After serving her country in the United States Navy, Melissa received her Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Marketing from University of Phoenix (UoP). While pursuing her degree Melissa worked in outside sales.  After graduation she transitioned to a decade long career in the staffing and recruiting industry where she has worked for small boutique agencies to large global Fortune 500 organizations, as well as having led her own executive placement service.

Melissa is the principle of SmartNet Strategies, specializing in providing LinkedIn training for individuals and organizations and is currently the Executive Director of Active Job Seekers of America.  Currently is a Board Member with the Volunteer Center of Sacramento and California Staffing Professionals- Sacramento Chapter.  Also, was instrumental in chartering the greater Sacramento county UoP alumni group.

Melissa and her family reside in Lincoln, California.  Her hobbies include genealogy and helping in the community, and she enjoys spending time with her family.

Melissa is the Sacramento Business Journal 2011, 40 under 40 winner for her work as Executive Director of Active Job Seekers of America.
